5th Annual Taste for the ArtsHermann, Missouri, June 4-5, 2011Art and music intertwine on June 4th and 5th when Taste For the Arts 2011 takes place in Hermann, Missouri in an event crafted to inspire. Components of the exhibit will represent all the arts where the region becomes the muse and the Hofgarten, the ultimate backdrop for the fiddlers contest and old time folk music and art. The event is sponsored by the Hermann Farm & Museum. Times: Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4. Location: at First Street and Gutenberg. You will experience art using nature's treasures-clay, wood, fiber, and glass. All the ingredients of earth transform into fine crafts, and watercolors of river scenes rub elbows with farm theme photography of dappled meadows, silos, haystacks, and gentile draft horses pulling old wagons displayed in worn barn wood frames. Even the regional food menu will tap into the innovative creative spirit, and a Taste For the Arts Scavenger Hunt in search of the perfect photo op, or a scenic stretch of rural road could win you a prize. |
The river, the woods, and storybook farms also inspire the featured musicians
and all together create a kaleidoscope of color and sound with the strings
of bluegrass, old time folk songs, and a wind ensemble. An old time community
dance will take place on Sunday afternoon with dance callers and live music
along the banks of Frene Creek, a nice rural reminisce of days when barn rafters
rang with the music of old time fiddlers. |
